In a game with a huge community like WOW WOTLK Classic Gold, a new expansion is a massive event. With the most recent one, World of Warcraft Classic which received a mixed to negative reception, players are hopeful for a new start for their beloved game. The Blizzard team confirmed in livestream on 19th that Dragonflight would be the title of the ninth expansion.
Though many fans are skeptical, other fans have been elated by the latest feature announcements which were discussed via stream after the beautifully crafted film. On the WoW subreddit one thread, started by user Stalloss began to discuss the news and announcements. Skimming through all of the replies to memes, players have also commented on the most eagerly anticipated features.
Exploration Based Story
One of the most important points made by the designers was that the new expansion wouldn't be following an army of soldiers however, organizations of explorers scientists and the settlers. This would allow for interesting new experiences for players as the previous expansions have revolved around stories that were more apocalyptic in nature.
Exploration is one of the key features in the Warcraft games, considering that it claims to be a massively open world. Mr.Harsh_Acid from the community explains his enthusiasm about it by saying "the expansion is centered around exploring and history, instead of threats to the world's end" and quoting the creator who was able to address this. This new style of gaming can provide more immersion.
Dracthyr Evoker
In addition to the allied races in Battle for Azeroth, there was no new race since Mists of Pandaria in 2012. There's an interesting variation to the Dracthyr as they can only have one class, the Evoker that is exclusive with the race. This mechanism is completely unique, and the race seems to provide some nice design options.
One Reddit user describes their enthusiasm, noting "I really enjoy the idea. It allows them to be very creative and also a plethora of dragon powers that they won't be able of doing on different races." The class is extremely mobile and resembles the wings of the Demon Hunter, while also offering a wide range of magical damage and healing.
High Fantasy Setting
The cinematic trailer certainly creates an almost fairy tale like fantasy look as it features a vibrant green world and the rainbow of dragons. Some have compared it to the highly-rated Mists of Pandaria expansion, which provided players with a stunning land of varying threats to explore, without having a specific villain in mind. Video game fans love exploring great fantasy worlds.
Redditor OKKnowledge2064 makes the connection after explaining their perspective to the world. "I find it appealing to the bright setting, high fantasy." Then they add "This feels very MoP like. A good sign, in my opinion." In a game with an abundance of nostalgia in its community, the possibility of comparing it to cheap WOTLK Classic Gold the beloved expansions are an excellent sign for the game's quality.
