It is time to take the time to look at your progress up to WOTLK Gold this point. What were your ambitions and what were the main areas you identified prior to taking on this position of leadership in Blizzard?
I think the aspect that was the most important to me--and that I'm sure that's why Mike [Morhaime, co-founder and former president of Blizzardhas decided to select me for this job was it was the reality that Blizzard is truly a developer-led company and that the product as well as the game focus we offer are available across all leadership levels, which is crucial and extremely robust.
So one important thing that I did was to add Ray Gresko on as the chief development officer. Later, I include Allen Adham to the executive team to bring the percentage of those creating games and also recently produced games significantly higher. The focus is back on our fundamentals and a focus on the thing that has made Blizzard's great gaming experience, which is what we do with our games. It's fundamental, the start of our efforts to achieve.
Throughout this year, we've reviewed the many projects we've got going on. We've looked at different things that we were doing that we believed like we should do more of. We examined various activities in our lives that we thought we should do less of. And we've come up through the launch of WoW Classic, which has been an amazing experience for us. Then we went to our first World of Warcraft League for season two and getting ready to move into the final month of the year with BlizzCon. So it's been a pretty great ride.
For those who do not have a clear understanding of what Blizzard is trying to achieve now, what would you say about recent changes at the executive-level and layoffs? And what kind of direction the company you would like to see it go in?The most important thing that is true, is true for a long time and will remain true in the future is that we are an values-driven and values-driven company. We make the majority of our strategic decisions using that lens.
Looking back, I believe any time you have a founder that has been in the chair for 28 years, I believe that it is normal and natural and reasonable to have uncertainty, fear and doubt over how we'll continue to carry on.
What I believe is crucial for people to be aware of is the principles that have built this company and helped build Blizzard are still the same values. We continue to put gameplay first among all. We are still focused on cheap WOTLK Gold providing fantastic player experiences and a positive community spirit for all that we do. This is more vital when looking to the future.
