There aren't any better examples of this new wave of pay-to-win strategies than the ongoing controversy over the popular MMOARPG Lost Ark.
Lost Ark is one of the most recent games to be accused of egregious microtransactions. It all started (or at least drew gamer outrage in large quantities) with the release of The MMO's argos Abyss raid. Similar to other raids within MMOs, the Argos Abyss tests player skill as well as cooperation and ability. To participate in the raid, though it is required that players have an amount of items that is at least 1370.
At firstglance, this requirement was not too difficult to meet.
