Madden NFL used to be a regular feature on Nintendo platforms and Wii U, but we'ven't seen it for nearly a decade since Madden NFL 13 on Wii U. EA is still regularly releasing updates to FIFA (even when they're "legacy editions"), EA previously said they didn't plan to release the game on the Switch in the year 2018. However, a recently released job listing indicated Madden may finally be on the way.
This discovery comes from YouTuber Doctre81, who found an advert titled "Online Software Engineer - (C++) - Madden" that dates back to November 2020. One section of the job's requirements calls for 2 years' experience in "Microsoft or Sony gaming consoles". That may seem like a lot however previous EA job advertisements haven't listed Nintendo within their criteria.
At the very least, EA could be investigating an eventual release. Keep in mind that EA had previously said that it would release seven Switch games during the 12-month period in June 2020. We've confirmed six games since June 2020, including Apex Legends which was released just this week.
There's still one to go, but given the annual release schedule for Madden, EA could potentially be waiting for the inevitable Madden NFL 22 release - as instead of a Madden NFL 21 port - considering they traditionally start in August. Let's hope it's not another version that's a legacy edition.
