This is quite logical. However when you consider the aspect of training, you'll notice that they all have something in common. Repetition is the best method to master the ability.

To increase your attack level You don't need to kill just one monster. You need to take on hundreds of monsters, and perhaps thousands. Although you could kill every kind of monster, it isn't very efficient. This is the same for other abilities. It doesn't matter if you are crafting runes, cutting trees or mining ore. When training in RuneScape it's not just your wits and real-life skills that matter. It's all about how long you can do the task you're assigned for. This is the main thread that all skills share and the potential benefits of a new ability.

This brings me to something I had said while back when Bachelor Fridge was out. Jagex was too addicted to strategy games something I was able to share with my buddies. Since the new skill will improve the current skills, I think that there'll be aspects of each skill that will have an option to choose a strategy or learn how to create' and use new items.
